Sofie Formica & The Great Day Out crew, participate in a Nocturnal Eco Tour with Toowoomba Eco Tours
few weeks ago, we were pretty excited at Toowoomba Eco Tours, to have the opportunity to take well known travel journalist Sofie Formica from Chanel 7's "The Great Day Out" (formerly known as The Great South East) TV Show and the team, on a nocturnal eco-tour of the native bushland at Reflections on Lake Cooby in the Toowoomba Region.
The twilight eco-tour began guiding Sofie and the crew along a picturesque walk amongst the flowering wattle & gum-trees, with dappled scenic views of the sun setting over Lake Cooby. Reflections at Lake Cooby offers the prefect location to connect with nature and to re-charge and refresh, getting away from the stresses of life.
Some of the highlights during the noctural eco tour, were sightings of a Koala, Sugar Gliders, Tawny Frogmouths, Red-Necked Wallabies, sleeping birds, and evidence of Echidnas to name a few!
The Great Day Out featuring Reflections Lake Cooby, and Toowoomba Eco Tours on the Darling Downs, aired on Sunday night and we have received very positive response both online and in person from the general public.

Guided Bushwalks for Kids in the Toowoomba Region
Bushwalking with children is a stimulating way to connect with nature and allow for children's senses to be awakened. Connecting with nature and discovering the hidden gems of the great outdoors will create memories that children will treasure forever.
Toowoomba Eco Tours hosted a Bushland Discovery Walk for Kids in the Winter School Holidays and it allowed children and parents to explore and discover one of our favourite bushland parks and learn more about it's history, it's importance and the plants and animals that reside in this area of significant biodiversity.
Our free guided walk in Highfields, just north of Toowoomba, booked out within 12 hours of being advertised! Children were encouraged to use their senses of sight and sound to notice wildlife and other elements during the walk. Each child was given a check-list to see how many things they could discover during their walk, and this was a challenge they accepted eagerly!
‘Going outdoors (in nature) is the most information rich and stimulating environment children will encounter.’ Stephen Kellert (Author and Yale Professor)
Some of the highlights of the walk included witnessing two pairs of usually timid Eastern Whipbird's chasing each other out into the open, in full view of the eco-tour participants. The children were also pleasantly surprised to see an Eastern Water Dragon basking on a rock near the creek on the sunny winter day. Tree Hollows of all sizes, birds nests, feathers and a wide range of birds were observed and learnt about.
Special thank-you to everyone who attended and to our two volunteer students from Highfields State Secondary College Photography Club for photographing the event.
